Through her business, her work as an elected official and as a community volunteer, she is a committed problem-solver and bridge-builder. Ms. Zacar�as currently serves as a City Councilmember for the City of Santa Maria. A tax accountant and educator (California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and Allan Hancock College), she is the former Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Family Care Center where she served to increase the quality and quantity of child care throughout Santa Barbara County.

Zacar�as has also assisted community-based organizations in their financial and organizational development, most significantly the Historic Dana Adobe in Nipomo, the Alliance for Pharmaceutical Access in Northern Santa Barbara County, and the California Family Resource Association based in Sacramento.
